Jennifer Cindy Lai, MD, MBA is a general and transplant hepatologist at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where she holds the Endowed Professorship of Liver Health and Transplantation. She leads a multi-million-dollar, NIH-funded research portfolio focused on improving the lives of patients with chronic liver diseases through diverse patient-oriented research methods and multidisciplinary collaboration. After earning her undergraduate degree from Stanford University and combined MD/MBA degrees from Tufts University, she completed her residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia and gastroenterology and transplant hepatology fellowships at UCSF. Recognizing the evolving needs within the field of hepatology, Dr. Lai more recently pursued additional training as a board-certified Physician Nutrition Specialist with expertise in Integrative Health. She is an Associate Editor for Hepatology and serves on the Editorial Boards of Gastroenterology and Liver Transplantation. Beyond her medical career, Dr. Lai is a dedicated board member of the Chinese American International School, the oldest Mandarin immersion school in the U.S.
